ACADEMIC CONTENT
Our Bachelor’s features applied practical and academic courses, across four semesters of study combined with three six-month professional internships/on-the-job experience.
You will learn how to lead a hospitality business and master the tools of the trade, working through simulated hotel development and business projects with experienced faculty members.
You’ll develop your critical thinking, research and writing skills to produce high-quality professional work, including an applied business project.
And for your semester 6 of the Bachelor’s program, you have the opportunity to study one of three career-focused specializations (see separate tab for more details).

Your professional internships take place in semester 2 of the Experiential Year and semester 3 of the BSc program. Your on-the-job experience takes place in semester 6 of the BSc program. They play a crucial role in your Bachelor studies, providing you with vital, real-world experience at leading organizations in hospitality and beyond.
You will not only gain a full year of work experience to add to your CV, but also strengthen your professional skills, make valuable industry connections and build your awareness of the latest industry standards – all of which will be crucially important in securing your first role after graduation.
On average, each Glion student can choose from more than seven internship offers, with opportunities received from 58 countries worldwide.
SPECIALIZATIONS
Your specialization semester allows you to focus your knowledge and expertise into professional disciplines that each offer outstanding career potential.
You can choose one of three specializations:
Luxury Brand Strategy
Understanding luxury and the strategy of luxury brands provides a foundation for a career not only in the luxury and hospitality industries, but far beyond.
International Hotel Development and Finance
This specialization will give you the skills to analyze the critical success factors in asset management for hotel and resort development projects.
Guest Experience & Event Management
This specialization teaches you how to conceptualize, design and create memorable events and experiences.
PRACTICAL ARTS
Your Experiential Year begins with a Practical Arts semester, which lays a strong foundation for your degree studies.
You will learn, practice and assimilate the highest standards of hospitality service and operations under the eye of leading culinary and hospitality professionals.
You’ll also be equipped with practical, professional skills you can deploy in your first internship.
Luxury Gastronomy & Hospitality MasterClass
A four-week immersion in world-class gastronomy
Our goal at Glion is to deliver exceptional learning experiences that immerse our students in the world of luxury hospitality. So we are extremely proud to partner with Michelin-starred Maison Décotterd to create an exclusive Masterclass for our first semester Experiential Year students.
Across four extraordinary weeks, you will meet influential experts who are delivering authentic luxury experiences in hospitality and gastronomy. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of cuisine, combining visits, guest speakers and workshops.

Education
For students entering the Experiential Year prior to the Bachelor’s program
Holding a secondary education diploma that meets Swiss/ European university entry requirements (Maturité, IB diploma, Abitur, French Bac, A-levels, high school diploma or equivalent).
For students entering the Bachelor’s program directly*
Holding a vocational baccalaureate linked to initial Vocational and Educational Training (VET) in a profession related to the field of study; or a professional or specialized baccalaureate in a specialization related to the field of study; or a secondary education diploma and a work certificate(s) demonstrating a minimum of one year work experience in the relevant field.
Admissions Assessment
Personalized assessment to ascertain motivation and review application documentation. This could include a scenario-based exercise to be completed beforehand.
English Language Qualifications
If English is not your first language, or if you have not spent the last two years studying in a school where English is the primary language of instruction, please enclose a copy of one of the following:
- International English Language Test (IELTS): 5.5 overall (min. 5.0 in every subcomponent) Only tests taken/issued in an official IELTS testing center are accepted.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based 70 or paper-based 525
- First Cambridge Exam: Grade C
- For London, same as above, except Non-UK passport holders will need to undertake IELTS UKVI: 5.5 overall and min. 5.5 in every subcomponent.

What can I do after a Bachelor of Hospitality Management?
What can’t you do?! A Bachelor’s in hospitality from the right school opens up career pathways in almost every industry. The world is now one big hospitality economy, with the very best brands understanding the importance of a service-focused approach to business.
If hospitality is your passion, then you can head into hotels and restaurants, or events, luxury retail, and travel. Beyond this, there’s finance, real estate, automotive and jewelry, and even tech and governmental roles, all of which are recruiting our Bachelor’s graduates. You’ll also be prepared for the entrepreneurial pathway – one which many of our alumni take.
Is Hospitality Management related to business?
In order to be successful in hospitality management you’ll need good business acumen. Whether you’re aspiring to be a manager of a hotel, restaurant, luxury retail store or in a corporate role, possessing business-focused expertise and abilities will give you an edge in interviews and enable you to bring the level of value that the very best brands demand.
An understanding of revenue, marketing, business strategy, and leadership are all key in the most sought-after hospitality management roles, right from entry-level positions. How many years is a Bachelor of hospitality?
Typically a Bachelor’s in hospitality will be a minimum of three years of study time. The Glion Bachelor’s in International Hospitality Business is four years long. As well as the length of the course, be sure to check the content.
You’ll want a good mix of practical and academic elements in order to give you an edge when you head into the working world.
Our own Bachelor’s degree comprises a full first semester in practical arts before students head off into the world on a six-month internship. When they return, they’re transformed as they head into rigorous academic studies, before a second management-level internship. In semesters four and five of the Bachelor’s program, business is the focus, with a real-world business project and a specialization to support the student’s chosen career pathway. Finally, the last semester is an on-the-job experience.
